On the coming Wednesday, August 5, the Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi will lay the foundation stone of Shri Ram Janmabhoomi temple in Ayodhya, India.

To celebrate this very special occasion, Bharatiya Mandir is inviting all devotees to the Mandir at 5pm on Wednesday, August 5, when a live telecast of the foundation stone ceremony is expected. From 6pm there will be lighting of diyas, bhajans and Shri Ram Katha by Acharya Shri Upendrabhai Joshi. This will be followed by evening Aarti and Mahaprasad. The Mandir management is appealing the wider Indian community in New Zealand to be a part of this celebration.

Shri Ram Janmabhoomi temple site is the birthplace of Lord Shri Ram, believed to be the seventh avatar of the Hindu deity Vishnu. The Ramayana states that the location of Shri Ram’s birthplace is on the banks of the Sarayu river in the city called “Ayodhya”. A time capsule, enlisting the history and facts related to the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi, will be placed thousands of feet below the construction site to ensure that there are no disputes in the future.
