A large number of religious and community organisations, mostly run by the Indian community are busy doing what one may resonate with, the Indian ethos of helping those in need. Many of these organisations swung into action as the lockdowns got extended week after week. As lots of people especially migrant students lost their income or lost jobs due to lockdown many of them were in dire need of support with food and money to pay for their bills.
To name a few organisations that are supporting the needy people are Takanini Gurudwara and several other gurudwaras across New Zealand, Shanti Niwas Charitable Trust, Bharatiya Mandir, Shirdi Sai Mandir, World Spiritual Forum and Auckland Indian Diaspora group in collaboration with Indian High Commission, Wellington -TIN Bureau
